The Craft Table- April 2026 Business of the Month

The Craft Table is a thoughtful makerspace tucked into a pocket of the neighborhood, created by Rene Martinez as a place for people to slow down and make things together.

The focus here is on workshops and open studio time, where community members can come in, use shared tools and materials, and work alongside others. Retail is mostly online, so the in-person experience is really about connection and creativity.

The space itself reflects that intention. It shares a home with Leslie Colleen Salon, and when you walk in, you’ll find a bright, cozy room with large windows and views of bright greenery and an Ivanhoe Village art panel. Dotting the walls are tools and materials of every shade of color. In the center is a large wooden table that brings people to create, learn, and just be with one another.

The Craft Table is also a local hub for the Sunday Letter Project, which encourages handwritten connection through pen pals. For many participants, having a dedicated place to send and receive letters helps make that experience more accessible and consistent. One more reason this makes the studio a great stop for anyone looking to unplug and spend time creating in a more hands-on way.

Because The Craft Table isn’t open all day, every day, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, either by signing up for a workshop or stopping by during open studio hours. You can also follow along with Rene’s online stich-along tutorials to create from home.

In a fast-paced, digital world, The Craft Table offers something refreshingly simple: a place to sit down, make something with your hands, and connect with others while doing it.
