A fun and retro abstract design with call backs to the history of the Ivanhoe area. Location: 621 Virginia Dr.

A modernism-influenced, graphic interpretation of a Floridian coral reef. The species represented are all native to our waters: Branching Fire, Sea Fans, Sea Rods, Lettuce, Brain, and Pillar. Working with a tall, skinny canvas is always a fun challenge, because you want to utilize the height as a strength in your design. I approached this project wanting to highlight Florida’s natural environment, but of course our state is rather flat with few naturally tall structures. That’s when I came upon the idea of a layered coral colony, and the interplay you find between its different shapes, colors, and textures. 621 Virginia Dr.

Beautiful inaccurately colored citrus fruits, but they still make sense. A representation of Florida. But what makes Ivanhoe so special? It’s interesting, different, and catches the eye. As portrayed in this painting. (2022) Location: 612 Virginia Dr.

I have broken down the main areas of interest found in the vibrant Lake Ivanhoe Village and created an abstract pattern to represent each area. I’ve used simple bold shapes paired with a vibrant color palette to illustrate the exciting energy and variety that the area has to offer. Location: 531 Virginia Dr.

Frond Memories seeks to juxtapose the natural with the man­ made, to play with and reimagine a simple frond. Using items in my home as a starting point, I photographed a palm frond wall hanging, a metal fern frond on a stand, a Japanese door curtain, and the shadow cast by a second metal frond. Mirroring the independent spirit of Ivanhoe Village, I chose the colors - blue, green, brown and gold that echo rich colors of the natural environment of Ivanhoe Village. The tiles exist in a realm between the real and the abstract. They are reminiscent of natural forms but are portrayed with what I hope to be a bold, energetic spirit, much like the spirit of the Village. (2021) Location: 701 Virginia Drive
