Call to Artists – Request for Proposals
A. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Ivanhoe Village District, located in Orlando, Florida, invites artists and artist teams to submit proposals for its Art Panel
Enhancement Project. This project is intended to provide new public artwork for display within Ivanhoe Village using the
existing hexagon-shaped aluminum panels currently mounted on selected building exteriors at the Well #3 Pocket Park,
located at 633 Virginia Drive.
Selected artist(s) will transform the three (3) hexagon-shaped aluminum panels into a cohesive series of artworks that
enhances the public space, increases awareness and appreciation of the arts, broadens visitors’ perspectives of public
spaces within the City, and fosters creativity, inspiration, and civic pride throughout the community.
B. BACKGROUND
Ivanhoe Village is one of Orlando’s historic Main Street districts, offering a unique blend of locally owned businesses,
vibrant dining, distinctive shopping, and urban living, all nestled among beautiful parks, lakes, and the City’s cultural
corridor. Rich in history yet energized by a creative and independent spirit, Ivanhoe Village continues to evolve as a
destination for residents and visitors alike.
Public art is a cornerstone of Ivanhoe Village’s identity, and the District continually seeks new opportunities to bring
meaningful artistic experiences into the community. We believe public art is an essential part of our unique history and
evolving culture. It has the power to create connections between people and the places they live, inspire thoughtful
dialogue, celebrate creativity, and strengthen community pride. Public art encourages diverse perspectives, fosters a sense
of belonging, and helps bridge differences by bringing people together through shared experiences.
The Art Panel Enhancement Project was created from these guiding principles, providing an opportunity for artists to
contribute to the continued growth, character, and cultural vibrancy of Ivanhoe Village.
C. PUBLIC ART GOAL AND INTENT
The Ivanhoe Village District Design Committee seeks to provide attractive, engaging, inventive, and inspiring artwork for
visitors to the Well #3 Pocket Park. The project is intended to create a casual yet enriching visual experience for park visitors
and passersby as they enjoy the space.
The completed (3) three-panel series should welcome and engage a diverse audience while adding beauty, creativity, and a
sense of discovery to the park. The artwork should celebrate the spirit of Ivanhoe Village, encourage exploration and
conversation, and contribute to the District’s vibrant character.
D. ABOUT THE PANELS
1. The (3) art panels will be mounted to the rear fence of the Well #3 Pocket Park, where they will be visible to both
pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Artwork should be visually engaging and easily appreciated by visitors walking
through the park at a leisurely pace.
2. Each hexagon-shaped aluminum panel measures approximately 36 inches wide by 31 inches high. Artists should be
prepared to adjust their artwork to fit the unique shape and dimensions of the panels.
3. Artists may include a signature on each panel, not to exceed 3 inches by 5 inches. Artwork may not contain
religious references or symbols, political messages or campaign materials, copyrighted or trademarked content, or
corporate or organizational branding.
4. All artwork must be an original design created by the submitting artist(s), must not have been previously displayed
or published, and must be suitable for audiences of all ages. Templates or digital assets may be used only if they
are created specifically for this project by the selected artist(s).

5. Artwork may be representational or abstract but must be appropriate for display in a public space.
6. The completed Art Panels will be promoted through Ivanhoe Village District marketing channels, including social
media, websites, and other media outlets.
E. ELIGIBILITY
1. This Request for Proposals (RFP) is open to individual artists and artist teams age 18 or older who live or work in
the Central Florida region.
2. All submitted artwork must be the original work of the entrant(s).
3. To be considered, each submission must include a completed official application. Selected artist(s) will also be
required to complete a Release of Liability form before work begins.
4. All application materials must be submitted together as a single package.
5. Artwork must be completed during an agreed-upon four (4) week period (dates to be determined). In the event of
unforeseen circumstances or inclement weather, the selected artist(s) may request a one-week extension by
notifying the Ivanhoe Village District Design Committee.
6. Artists may enlist assistants; however, all assistants must be identified in the application.
7. Each artist or artist team may submit up to three (3) design proposals for consideration.
F. CRITERIA
Artists and artist teams should demonstrate the experience and professionalism necessary to successfully complete the
project. Artwork will be evaluated based on creativity, artistic merit, technical proficiency, and its relationship to the Well
#3 Pocket Park and the surrounding Ivanhoe Village community.
G. MEDIUM AND SPECIFICATIONS
1. Artwork will be displayed in a public space and must be appropriate for audiences of all ages.
2. Painting is the only acceptable medium for this project. Artists must use high-quality, exterior-grade acrylic latex
paint with a low-sheen or semi-gloss finish. Safety, durability, and long-term performance are essential
considerations. Submissions that do not comply with these requirements will not be considered.
3. Artists are responsible for providing all materials required to complete all 3 artwork pieces, except that the
Ivanhoe Village District will provide each panel primed with a base coat.
H. BUDGET AND TERMS
1. Selected artist(s) will receive an honorarium of $500, inclusive of all artist fees, materials, and labor. Fifty percent
(50%) will be paid at the start of the project, with the remaining fifty percent (50%) paid upon timely completion
and acceptance of the artwork.
2. Installation may begin only after the artwork has been approved and all required contracts, liability waivers, and
other project documents have been completed. The artist is responsible for coordinating any required notifications
or approvals before work begins.
3. The completed artwork should closely reflect the approved design proposal. Any significant changes must receive
prior written approval from the Ivanhoe Village District Design Committee.
4. The artist is responsible for repairing any damage to the park, structures, or adjacent property resulting from the
installation or maintenance of the artwork.
5. The artwork must have an expected lifespan of at least five (5) years. At the District’s request, the artist shall
perform reasonable touch-ups to maintain the artwork. If the artist is unable or unwilling to restore the artwork to
an acceptable condition, the District reserves the right to repair, restore, or remove it.
6. The artist, Ivanhoe Village District, and the City of Orlando each retain the right to photograph and reproduce
images of the completed artwork for promotional, educational, and non-commercial purposes.
7. Upon completion, the artwork becomes the property of the Ivanhoe Village District and the City of Orlando as a
long-term public art installation. The District and City reserve the right to relocate, modify, or remove the artwork
if deemed necessary, after reasonable consultation with the artist whenever practicable.
8. Because the artwork will be displayed in a public setting, it may be subject to vandalism or weather-related
damage. The District and artist will coordinate restoration efforts as appropriate, which may include repainting,
protective coating reapplication, or other necessary repairs.
9. The Ivanhoe Village District and the City of Orlando reserve the right to modify, suspend, or withdraw this Request

for Proposals (RFP) at any time.
I. SELECTION PROCESS
1. A selection panel will review all applications submitted in response to this Request for Proposals (RFP). The panel
will include artists, arts professionals, and representatives from the City of Orlando, Ivanhoe Village District, local
businesses, residents, and the education community.
2. The selection panel will recommend finalists to the Ivanhoe Village District Design Committee for final approval.
Once selected, contracts will be executed, and the project schedule will be finalized before work begins.
3. Proposals will be evaluated using the following criteria:
a. Artistic achievement and quality as demonstrated through the artist’s résumé, portfolio, and previous
work (30%).
b. Project concept and approach, including the strength of the design, narrative, and alignment with the
goals of the project, as well as the artist’s experience working in similar media, scale, and budget (40%).
c. Creativity and originality of the proposed artwork (30%).
d. Compatibility with the District’s existing public art collection, contributing to a diverse range of artistic
styles, themes, and media.
e. Appropriateness of the artwork for the Well #3 Pocket Park, considering the character of the site and its
broad public audience.
f. Selected artwork, along with the artist’s name, artwork title, and photographs of the completed
installation, may be featured on Ivanhoe Village District and City of Orlando websites, social media
platforms, and other promotional materials.
g. The Ivanhoe Village District Design Committee reserves the right to determine the final placement of
approved artwork based on its compatibility with the project site.

J. HOW TO APPLY
All application materials must be emailed to: director@ivanhoevillage.org by the RFP deadline of 12:00 p.m., August 10,
2026 with the subject line: IVD Art Panel Submission. Incomplete and late applications may be deemed ineligible and not be
considered.
The complete Artists’ submissions must include:
• A completed application form (EXHIBIT A)
• Assumption of Risk Agreement Waiver (EXHIBIT B)
• A short bio or resume (max 3 pages)
• Work sample – past artwork: Title, Year, Materials, Dimensions, Location (if applicable), Project Budget (if
• applicable). Brief Description for each artwork. If applicable, include your Instagram and/or Facebook name. These
items can be grouped as a single word or pdf document.

K. PROJECTED TIMELINE

• Artist Painting of Panels: September – October 2026
• Completion of panels: November 2026
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Application materials must be received on or before August 10, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., EST. Any application materials received
after the date and time specified above will be rejected and considered nonresponsive and returned to the Artist
unopened.
