Flock the Park

UPDATE: THE FLOCK HAS LANDED

Something colorful has officially taken over the pocket park at 633 Virginia Drive, and it’s entirely community-created. What started as a playful installation has quickly become a living, evolving flock, with each flamingo painted by someone right here in the neighborhood.

You don’t have to paint one to be part of it: Walk through the park and see how the flock is growing. Look closely, as each flamingo has its own personality. Take photos and share your favorites. Come back often, as new designs appear regularly. The display changes as more flamingos return, making the park feel different every week. As a friendly note, the flamingos live here once they return. Part of the art is keeping the flock together so everyone can experience it.

🦩 Helpful Hints for Painting Your Flamingo

  • Clean first. Wipe your flamingo dry before painting.
  • Acrylic or spray paint both work. Acrylic is great for details. Spray paint is fast and smooth.

  • Use thin coats. Two light coats work better than one thick coat.
  • Let it dry fully. Give it time between coats to avoid smudges.
  • Seal it if you can. These birds live outside with sun, rain, humidity, the whole Florida drama….Clear sealer helps them survive protecting your design outdoors.

  • Don’t forget to sign it.
  • Bring it back to the park. They live here now.

FLOCK THE PARK

Ivanhoe Village is getting a little more colorful, and a lot more fun. We’re launching a playful, community-driven art activation in our Well #3 Pocket Park that invites everyone to slow down, get creative, and leave their mark on the neighborhood.

As you pass by the park, you’ll notice bright pink plastic flamingos waiting to be adopted (temporarily!). Each flamingo is yours to paint, decorate, and personalize… then return to the park to become part of a growing, ever-changing outdoor art display created by the community.

How It Works
1. Swing by the park to pick up a flamingo that has not yet been decorated.
2. Take it home, to your studio, or paint it with friends. Make it bold, weird, artsy, or totally you, but be kind.
3. Write your name (or nickname) on the tag attached to the flamingo so we can credit the artist.
4. Bring your finished flamingo back and place it in the landscape for display (please return by 3/15/2026)
5. Snap a photo to share on social media and with the IVMS Promotions Committee to help spread the fun and show off your work.

Over time, the park will fill with a flock of one-of-a-kind flamingos, each telling a small story about the people who make Ivanhoe Village special. Stop by often; the display will continue to evolve as more flamingos return home.
